Grubhub is expanding its offerings in Smart Promotions with the introduction of a spend-based loyalty program. This loyalty program is a progress-based promotion where a customer earns toward a reward over multiple orders.
Loyalty programs in Smart Promotions are personalized for your restaurant — based on your customers’ average order frequency and order size. By giving your customers just the right incentive, you can get the best return on your investment.
Running a loyalty program is a powerful way to:
Best of all, you don’t pay anything until your customers hit their target and redeem their reward.
When combined with Smart Promotions like Attract new customers, running a loyalty program gives your business a complete marketing strategy—one that balances acquisition and retention.

Step 2: Adding a loyalty program to your current Smart Promotion plan
Log in to Grubhub for Restaurant and click the Promotions > Manage tab on the left. You should see your current Smart Promotion goals. Scroll to the Loyalty section at the bottom of the page and click “Get Started.”
Step 3: Confirm your enrollment in the loyalty program
On the next page, you will be able to review details about your loyalty program. You will also find information on cancelation.
Please note: if you choose to cancel, there will be a 30-day delay to ensure the best customer experience, so customers that are working towards rewards will not lose progress (see the section “What if I want to cancel my loyalty program?” below).
Step 4: Review the estimated monthly cost of your loyalty rewards
Step 5: Launch your loyalty program!
Participating restaurants will receive monthly emails summarizing the performance of your loyalty program. At this time, you will not be able to see the performance of your loyalty program from your Smart Promotions’ dashboard.
Clicking ‘Stop loyalty program’ puts the program in a “grace period” of 30 days, during which a customer can still earn progress toward the reward. Once this is initiated, customers will be notified that a program they are part of is ending. If a customer earns a reward during the grace period, they have 30 days to redeem that reward from the day it was earned. This grace period is intended to ensure your customers have a good experience with your restaurant.
