Add Menu Photos
Adding menu photos can boost sales by as much as 30%. See below for detailed instructions to add photos via desktop, mobile, or Instagram.
Add photos to a menu item
- Log in to restaurant.grubhub.com as an admin
- Select Menu from the left sidebar on desktop, or the
icon on mobile. - Select the menu item for which you want to add a food photo and click the Add Photo icon.

- Select the photo icon
and select to Upload image or Import from Instagram. Agree to the terms and conditions and upload your menu photo.


To upload from Desktop:
- Click Upload Image.
- Agree to terms and conditions.
- Choose a photo you’d like to use. Select Open to upload the photo.
- The chosen photo will be in review while our automated system approves the submission.
- If the photo is approved*, the picture will display on your menu.
To upload from a Mobile Device:
- Click Upload Image.
- Agree to terms and conditions.
- Choose a photo or take a photo.
- The chosen photo will be in review while our automated system approves the submission.
- If the photo is approved*, the picture will display on your menu.
To upload from Instagram:
- Click Import from Instagram.
- Read the terms and conditions, and click “agree” and continue.
- Authorize your Instagram account to gain access to your profile.
- Choose a photo you’d like to use and click “upload”.
- The chosen photo will be in review while our automated system approves the submission.
- If the photo is approved*, the picture will display on your menu.
Header, Profile, and Logo Images

To add the Header, Profile, or Logo Image:
- Select Profile from the left sidebar on desktop, or the icon on mobile.
- At the top of the page, you can upload a logo, header image, and profile image by selecting the Upload photo boxes

*Photo Guidelines
When your photo is uploaded, there will be a notice that your photo is “in review” by our system. After processing, the system will signify the status of the photo:
- Approved: Image passed system criteria

- In Review: Image is currently in system processing


- Rejected: Image did not pass system criteria

The system checks images based on these criteria:
- Size/resolution: Images must be at least 200×200 pixels.
- Content: All images except for the logo should be photos of food. Photos of coupons, weekly specials, or restaurant interior/exterior are not accepted.
- Text/phone number: Images shouldn’t have text or words on them, including the name of the dish, coupons, or special deal information. Logos cannot have the restaurant phone number included.
- Safe search: Images cannot contain images flagged for adult content, violence, or medical (i.e. gore/blood).
- Copyright: Images must not return matching URLs from reverse Google image search.
